New to NZ?

If you have just recently arrived in New Zealand, it is important to know exactly what is required with regard to your vehicle and driving on NZ roads.

Your vehicle
The two most important things regarding your vehicle being able to be driven in NZ are the
       Warrant of Fitness (WOF)
                   and
Vehicle Licence (called "Rego" by Kiwis)

If you drive a diesel-engined vehicle, you will also be required to pay Road User Charges (RUC).

Driving in NZ
NZ Law requires you to have your driver's licence with you at all times while driving.

The most important NZ driving rules are contained within "The Road Code" - available from most booksellers. Drivers are strongly advised to read this book before driving here, particularly if you have come from a country where they drive on the right.  Remember - in New Zealand, KEEP LEFT!
